The designer has recently published ‘The Green Room’ a fascinating account of an industry and what happens within the glamorous and fickle fashion world.
The designer is known for his minimalism style so much so that he is termed ‘Guru of Minimalism’ by the media. At a time when couture in India meant silk with embroidery, Rodricks led the way with his rural cotton weaves, eco dyes and garment patterns favouring cut and colour, never resorting to embroidery in his entire career.
The designer has flagship stores in Goa and retails out of multi-designer outlets in India.
His SS 13 collection is titled ‘Ocean Orient’ and is about an imaginary 17th Century sea voyage that leaves Goa and travels to Shanghai via Macao. The collection uses a soothing melody of pastels that seduce the viewer to a distant time and dreamscape.
Fashion to me is, “Layered look cut with Indian geometry. Light garments that flatter the Indian woman.”
