Sonia Jetleey’s Fall-Winter 2013/14 collection is a beautiful amalgamation of the women of today, with their edgy personalities and individual spunk, with the yesteryear damsels, conserved and fragile, with a lot to say.
Titled ‘The Dance’, it explores the wonders of Sicily, and it’s beautiful baroque architecture, combined with paradisical context of roses. It brings in the peacock, known for its dance, along with whimsical paint-dab effects. Sticking to her motto ‘edgy yet wearable’, she brings in new silhouettes like shift dresses with pants and saree- bolero blouson and tesselated border combinations, which makes her collection unique. Coltish corsets and asymmetric skirts add a hint of frolic in her collection. She keeps her signature kaftan, and plays with different prints. Surprises can and should be expected in her interspersed presentation of ideas.
She uses the classic ‘boyfriend shirts’ and presents them in her own, mature yet edgy way. Shades such as royal purple, minty greens, pink cinnamon, wine berry, hawaiian ocean and peacock blue serve as the binding factor, along with her passion for fabric, make it a white light shining through a diamond, causing a flurry of colours. Emerald green, the colour of growth, is her latest trend, incorporated all through her collection .All in all, her collection brings back to us the importance of the past, and how, knowing it can also be our future.
