431-88 was started in 2012 to curate a line for the woman who embraces her sexiness with an allusion to a sporty style. Being minimalistic in its outlook, the label exhibits a sharp focus on stripping the idea behind the collection to its absolute core and translating that into clean cuts and detailing. In every piece, traditional seams and darts are manipulated to achieve a constrained distortion.n nIn the quest to understand cultural behaviour through fashion and clothes in the Indian context, Kapur started her research with the garment that is synonymous with the Indian woman: the sari, which in all of its 6 yards has come to represent India. With more than 180 ways of draping it, its the simplicity in its complexity, which drew the designer to study it more.n nThe art of pleating, wrapping and tying in different permutations and combinations has given rise to styles, which vary across states and borders. There is no one way to wear it yet each style gives the wearer an effortless look that symbolises ease. The more the research grew deeper, the more it started resonating with the sub culture of punk. It was the individuality, originality and DIY spirit that sort of reflected in the way these saris were tied.n nThe Spring Summer 2016 collection is sort of a personal study done by Kapur and incorporates the spirit of punk into the silhouette of a sari. The pallus became hoodies; the hint of the sari waist and the back became the tears and slashes that were associated with punk. Details like safety pins used to secure the drape of the sari became a fashion staple of the punk culture. The sari checks became 431-88s version of mesh. The end tassels of a sari became the unfinished seams and the rough hems and were further interpreted through embroidery.n nBuyer Contact:nShweta KapurnM: +91 9810143188nT: +91 129 4041667nE: info@431-88.com/sales@431-88.comnW: www.431-88.comn nMedia Contact:nAkshita SekhrinM: +91 9810862129nE:press@431-88.com/ fashionconsulate@gmail.comnW: www.431-88.com
