A design graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, Bahl launched his label in 2001. His Spring/Summer 2004 collection was showcased at White in Milan to international acclaim and great commercial success. Varun Bahl, known for his innovative and intricate design aesthetic takes inspiration from Art Nouveau period to create a series of vintage floral stories with glamour and exuberance.
At India Couture Week 2017, inspired by Alphonse Muchas masterpieces like the Le Pater and decorative panels such as The Seasons (1896) and The Flowers (1898), you will find traces of his traditional bohemian influence and neoclassical jewelry motifs from the late 1800’s seen in the Zodiac (1896).It has intricate curvilinear patterns of sinuous asymmetrical lines with floral and plant inspired motifs which encourages the organic forms and patterns of art nouveau to flow from one object to another.
The exclusive collection by the master couturier has an assortment of lehengas, jacket anarkalis, sarees and a mix of tailored couture pieces to choose from. The collection experiments with surface hand embroideries which are intricate, interplays between volume and structure, and layered looks each with a story to tell.
The colour palette is an eclectic mix of Ivory, Pale pink, peaches, burnt orange, pistachio, red and old rose.Intricately embroidered motifs are seamlessly incorporated on fine silks, tulles and georgettes.
