Namrata?s vision is that of a global aesthetic. Her clothing easily translates across geographies and other artificial constructs such as age, race and point of view. The Joshipura line fuses contemporary silhouettes with modern interpretations of artisanal embellishments. An important signature element is her innovative use of color ? strong expressions of color contrasted with beautiful embellishments.
nNamrata strives to make clothing that is worn by complex, involved, and dynamic women. After having lived in New York for 8 years, she moved back to New Delhi 8 years ago. Influenced by her time in New York her aesthetic has been inspired by the city?s energy and contemporary spirit.
nIn 2013 Elle Magazine named Namrata as the ?Designer of the Year? for their style awards.
nIn March 2013, Namrata showcased at Lakme Fashion Week, Mumbai, as the finale show, headlined by Kareena Kapoor. In March, 2014, Namrata was asked to be the finale show for Wills Fashion week where Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper. She is the only designer to have ever done two finales in the space of 12 months ? this is testament to the fact her shows are exciting and always full of energy. In September 2015, Namrata put on a Lakme sponsored show, ?Insta Light?, which was showstopped by Shradha Kapoor.
nThe Namrata Joshipura label has become the go-to label for Bollywood starlets looking to make a red carpet impact from: Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar and are a few of the stars that have worn ?Namrata Joshipura? recently.nHer clothes are retailed in India at her five stores: DLF Emporio (Delhi), The Crescent (Delhi), D7 (Mumbai), The Collonnade (Bangalore) and 144 Remount Road (Kolkata). The clothes are also sold at fine shops around the world.
nNamrata, a NIFT graduate, launched her clothing line in India in 1996 under the “Namrata Joshipura” label.
nNamrata?s other passions in life are running marathons and traversing mountain peaks. And very recently she sumitted Mt. Kilimanjaro- The Highest Free Standing Mt. in the world.
nOn 06/03/2017 she received the prestigious Femina Powerlist North 2017 Awards. The awards are presented to recognise the work that young, influential women achievers do. This award was significantly for women who have proved their presence and carved a niche for themselves in their respective fields. Namrata is one of them.n
