Anand Kabra –  A MELANGE OF IDEAS!

The thought behind Anand’s 2022 collection is that it is a veritable amalgamation of diverse inspired and beautiful ideas, concepts, ‘bits and pieces’, if you will, that have made an impact on the designer and stayed with him over the years.

Speaking about his 2022 Collection, Designer, Anand Kabra, says, “The collection is an ode to small, yet significant and gorgeous design details that I have made note of during my travels, or whilst rummaging through vintage clothing, or going through old fashion images, and the like. The hodgepodge of creative ideas that had been living in my imagination for the past several years have all come together to create this collection.”

Anand Kabra’s 2022 Collection is an attempt to change the way we look at and interpret Indian clothing. Emphasising the requirements of a modern woman, with comfort, easy, lightness and easy of mobility at its core, the collection is very detailed, with the idea of building up or layering to create a look. The focus is on distinct items of clothing that can be played around with, mixed-and-matched and beautifully styled to create stunning ensembles. In designing this collection, Anand has made a very conscious effort to move away from the ‘set’ culture that is so prevalent in Indian fashion.

Comprising silhouettes that epitomise relaxed fits, linear cuts and soft tailoring, Anand Kabra’s 2022 Collection includes trousers, tunics, skirts, Anarkalis – in the designer’s inimitable style, sarees, and corsetry, amongst others.

The silhouettes are brought to life with the use of luxurious silks – chiffon, dupioni, habotai, etc. – in different weights and textures and an array of colours, such as warm white, charcoal, mustard, sand, pale sky blue and vermilion.

In terms of techniques employed for the collection – there is extensive use of prints, beading, handmade lace, cutwork, mesh, placement dyeing and contrast stitching, all of which come together exquisitely along with the fabrics and hues to create the stunning designs that comprise Anand Kabra’s 2022 collection.
