Cotton Council International & FDCI Congratulates Rising Stars Josh Goraya and Vedangi Agarwal on the upcoming shows at
Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW SS 14)
Continuing its commitment to the fashion leaders of tomorrow Cotton Council International (CCI) congratulates designers Josh Goraya and Vedangi Agarwal on the debuts at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Winners of the highly coveted ‘Let’s Design’ competition, Josh and Vedangi will unveil their SS 14 collections at the Hi 5 show on October 13, 2013. Organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Asia’s biggest five-day fashion will take place October 9-13, 2013 at Hall No. 18 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Conceptualized by CCI to educate and inspire young designers to work with cotton, Cotton Council International’s ‘Let’s Design’ has grown to become India’s premier design competition. The aim is to nurture young talent while igniting a passion for working with cotton fabric.
Taking cue from the competition, the collections being showcased by both designers will be predominantly cotton.
“At Cotton Council International we understand how important it is to nurture young talent in the fashion industry,” commented Agnieszka Fijol, head of consumer marketing in India for CCI. “Josh and Vedangi are great advocates for cotton, using high quality fabrics in their collections and we’re delighted to be working with them”.
“Encouragement when you’re emerging onto the fashion scene is vital for new designers. Working with CCI and FDCI has provided us with a fantastic platform to showcase our collections at India Fashion Week and to incorporate high quality cottons into our collections”, said Josh. “Naturally I’ve always been aware of cotton but working with CCI has opened my eyes to the breadth of possibilities in cotton which has allowed me to grow as a designer”, added Vedangi.
Mr. Sunil Sethi, President FDCI quotes, “FDCI has always been supportive of emerging talent and keeping our commitment to the winning designers of the show Let’s Design 5 of participation at WIFW, we look forward to what these young designers have to present. The excitement is building as both these designers will be showing their cotton collection.”
About Josh Goraya’s Collection –
As a designer Josh’s influences are deeply rooted in traditional sartorial ethics but inspired by radical modernism and the contradiction between uprising youth culture and undying classics. He strives to achieve functionality, timelessness and longevity in each of his garments. For his debut appearance at WIFW Josh turns to the writings of Valerie Solanas for inspirations. “Scum Manifesto” is full of hatred for men, describing a society run only by women and men as mere “scum”. Interestingly, Josh uses his collection to showcase the equality, parity and uniformity between men and women. Look for the striking contrasts of stiff drapes juxtaposed with delicate fabric treatments such as thread embroidery.
About Vedangi Agarwal’s Collection –
The theme for Vedangi’s collection at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week SS 14 is “Aurora”. The inspiration behind the collection is the orange haze on the horizon as the morning exhales a yawn, and prepares for a new start. Expect soft, feminine lines in soft pastel tones with slight tints of gold shimmer bringing a touch of glamour to the entire collection.
Designers Josh Goraya and Vedangi Agarwal will unveil their collections at the Hi 5 show of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on Sunday 13th October 2013 at 12.45 pm.
