
Gautam Gupta, an alumnus from NIFT started his career in 2003 with his label Asha-Gautam (Indian Couture) along with his mother. A philosopher, traveler, reader, he finds his inspiration from rich history and empowering millennial. Over the years, Gautam has constantly been involved in exploring new techniques for weaves and textures, giving an edge to his collections.
His love for weaving and developing new textiles pushed him to start two more labels Autre by Gautam (Prêt) and GG by Asha Gautam (Fusion wear) . He works with more than 300 craftsmen spread across various clusters in India. He developed textiles such as Eri mulberry silk, munga georgette, banana mulberry silk, bamboo mulberry silk, zari georgette among others to develop his collections. Travelling and working with artisans from Paithan, Bhuj, Patan, Pochampally, Kaithun and Varanasi among others the designer continuously work towards the revival of vintage techniques and also build a core design ethos around ancient craft. He is also with Ministry of textile in Design development and marketing of Cholapur cluster in Varanasi.
