Antithesis, the newest collection from Ritesh Kumar is a lot of things – texture play, graphic elements and most of all techno-futuristic in every way. The collection is an amalgamation of severe cuts and sharp silhouettes – an idea that is both modern and eclectic at the same time. The exploration of polarities – from organic to man-made, textures to oil slick finishes and blacks with whites makes this collection complete.CM4_6904 CM4_6934 CM4_7144
There are, of course, extremes that play beautifully between fabrics and colours and cuts – the sharpness of style with the delicacy of the fabrics. From silhouette to colour to texture – there is synthesis in everything and that comes through in this collection. Hybrids of silk, wool, synthetic fur, leather and fine knit come together in a monochromatic color palette, only, there are smaller inclusions – like teal, silver, red and occasionally blue that light up the line-up. The reason this collection works is because it includes dynamism and innovation in smaller doses – and it’s influences are modern, like science fiction, retro ideas and sportswear all rolled into one.

The ear muffs added just the right amount of retro to this collection – while boxy handbags and clutches kept it minimalistic and avant garde. The crocheted shift and the graphic dress bring the cool quotient to this collection while the chain-link bags and two-toned tights added the retro effects.
