There is definitely something about the way Pankaj and Nidhi bring colour into fall this season. Brights are subtle (if there is ever such a thing!) and fabrics went from faux wool fur (a material that was made specially by the designers) to leather and wool jersey.

This season, Pankaj and Nidhi created bold and beautiful tapestry with wycinanki, a polish colourful art form that means paper-cut designs. The art form not only elevated the collection with its delicacy, but it also created a wonderful balance for fall with birds, trees, flowers and other pretty things embroidered on the ensembles.

The wycinanki motifs were then interpreted by hand-cut felt fabrics that were appliquéd into individual ensembles. The collection was a very wearable one, and of course, the designers keep it that way. The occasional slip-ups come in gorgeous forms like the bright orange leather top and the red leather jacket, but mostly, all garments are flattering and will fit in with equal ease into ones wardrobe. Geometric and graphic elements are part and parcel of this collection and so a mosaic of colours sweep the anthology. From fitted dresses to cape jackets, peplum tops to wide-legged pants theres something for everyone.

The fabrics even ventured towards wool crepe, silk satin, and georgette and wool jersey. The innovative technique of cross-stitch done on leather is interesting and the unusual effect is achieved by punching holes in the leather to form a grid. The signature graphic embellishments rendered in wool yarn and silk tapes brought a very refined folk collection. The vivid colours, the graphic patterns and the modern silhouettes kept the collection very festive for fall.
