She started when she was 17, in the cold environs of Siberia, but Anna L, a first-timer at AIFW, has a heart which warms up when she watches Bollywood dance. Even though, “it’s funny seeing all the fighting, gravity defying postures and singing songs”, she is open to a saucy item number.

A trained Samba and Waltz dancer, for seven years Anna put her body through the rigorous routine of maintaining balance on melody and aligning it with rhythm to woo perfect harmony. “I took up modelling as I loved travelling. I was quite young, my parents still worry, but they know I have my head firmly on my shoulders, so they feel assured, I will do the right thing,” says Anna, 21.

From China, Philippines, Indonesia (where she also starred in a movie) to Malaysia, Anna’s most favourite destination remains Mumbai. “The city stands for freedom, I like the mix of cross cultures and it has also taught me that besides having a fabulous body, strong features and appealing pose, modelling is a bit like acting—you gotta give a performance every time you are on stage,” she laughs, adding that a visit to see the holy river Ganges, in Beneras is on the cards.

India, a destination she knew of after seeing a few films back home, Anna, a student of economics, is not hoping to climb the corporate ladder. Rather she is happy modelling and settling down for domesticity once her brush with fame is over. “I’m studying economics as I was good at it in school too; money management and the finance sector interests me, but this is only to be able to manage my accounts correctly. I am not looking to make a career out of it. I want a husband and baby, that’s my dream,” she adds.

Close to her step sister and brother, Anna, being the only child, would like to pursue dancing in the future, as she feels what you need to succeed to be a great one is abundance of energy. “It requires mental strength and above all a will to keep going just when you think you have had enough,” she smiles.

Interestingly, what inspired Anna to get into modelling was South Africa stunner Candice Susan Swanepoel. A Victoria Secret’s angel, Candice won Anna over with her perfect body, and intelligence. “She is a great blend of beauty and brains and that’s why she made it to the Forbes list of most beautiful faces. If I can achieve half of what she has, it will truly be an accomplishment,” she concludes.
