Job Summary
We are seeking a highly creative, meticulous, and experienced Assistant Fashion Designer to work directly with our Creative Head. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between traditional Indian craftsmanship and modern design aesthetics. You will drive the development of premium collections from initial concept through to final production, ensuring the highest standards of luxury execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development & Conceptualisation
- Develop concepts for premium Indian wear, sarees, lehengas, contemporary co-ord sets, and luxury gowns.
- Translate ideas into highly detailed hand sketches and precise technical drawings for production.
- Build mood boards and seasonal color palettes in collaboration with the design team.
- Research global trends and consumer insights to forecast relevant luxury styles for the Indian market.
Technical & Production Management
- Manage workflows from initial concept sketch to the final production-ready garment.
- Source materials including luxury fabrics, custom colors, and unique embellishment elements.
- Oversee sample fittings to analyze drape, fit, and silhouette construction.
- Execute adjustments on prototypes to ensure flawless execution before final manufacturing.
Team Collaboration & Quality Control
- Direct production teams including pattern makers, tailors, and master artisans.
- Supervise embroiderers to ensure intricate karigari aligns with the brand’s luxury standards.
- Maintain brand consistency across all collections to protect the atelier’s visual identity.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from a premier institute (e.g., NIFT, Pearl Academy, or international equivalent).
- Experience: 5+ years of proven experience within a luxury design house or high-end designer atelier.
- Core Expertise: Deep knowledge of Indian textiles, luxury drape, and traditional embroidery techniques (e.g., Zardozi, Chikankari, Aari).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in manual sketching, technical flat drawing, and fabric manipulation.
- Attributes: Exceptionally detail-oriented, innovative, and capable of thrives in a fast-paced creative environment.
