Black & Gold Story
Get set to be wowed by subtle elegance as the PCJ Delhi Couture Week décor exudes timeless sophistication When set designer and décor expert Vikram Sharma started working on the PCJ Delhi Couture Week, he knew it had to be classy, keeping in mind the high fashion it was catering to. And what he did come up with was a fitting theme-black and gold. We have taken references from fashion, techniques and fabrics that top designers use while designing a collection and incorporated them in our theme. Like the ruching that they use in gowns or the extensive play of fabrics like silk jacquards and velvet is all effectively woven in the decor, he explains.
A Study in Contrasts
Two models from two unique worlds find a meeting ground in the blitzkrieg of glamour Life, as they say, is a study in contrast. And the world of bling, hopes, dreams, glamour is no different. On one side you have a model mother managing her two-year-old twins, but still wanting to work, even though she has cut down on travel. And on the other, you have a New York born and raised model, who is completing her course in fashion merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and modeling to gain valuable experience. Krishna Somani and Diva come from two ends of the spectrum. But the thread that binds them is love for the runway.
Shes Got the Look

Modeling veteran Noyonika Chatterjee completes 25 years, this year. In a world where looks are everything and insecurity is a given, she takes pride in being a mom, lovin every moment in the spotlight and relegates her winning a genetic lottery to just pure luck!
Manishs La Vie Boheme
Magnificent open to dome set, the longest ramp at WIFW, with glossy reflective surface, Sonam Kapoor looking smashing in a sari along with Neha Dhupia, it was a starry night to remember as Manish Arora took the catwalk by storm. Larry Harvey began the Burning Man project in 1986 as a way of self-expression in San Francisco in many ways it was radical, as a wooden effigy is burnt to symbolize a fight against society to allow freethinking in art. Inspired by this radical philosophy, Manish sent down hot pink bags and belts that cinched waists, peplum dresses and little golden hearts on blouses, as well as printed clouds which took you on a trip to the Arora wonderland.
All for the Love of Simplicity
You could see her eyes wet with tears when her talented daughter was handed over a cheque by Vogue, and celebrated for design excellence. Like all mothers, for Aneeth Aroras simple mom, it was a proud moment. Yes, my parents are very sentimental, if anyone praises me, my mom breaks down, says Aneeth.
Rina Revisits Her Past, While Sonam Celebrates His Roots
Sometimes the simplest looking things are actually most complicated, but if you look closely the treasure box of secrets are revealed. So when Rina Dhakas bandage dresses teamed up with Pashmina emerged along with graphics and dupion, as well as ikats, it was the play of delicate paisleys that made a strong impact.
Caterpillar to Butterfly

There are three reasons why you will walk away from Rahul Mishras show pleasantly pleased—-he immediately gives credit to his wife for his success, tells you that he has abandoned his safety net of textiles, and introduces you to the next big thing; caterpillar sleeves. I was fascinated by the way the caterpillar moves so I incorporated that in my line, through the medium of sleeves on my jackets. If you observe, even the sleeves which start from the upper shoulder move like the caterpillar on your arms, he smiles.
Joy of Cinema
If there is anyone who can work an item number with the alacrity of a race pony it is got to be the wasp-waisted Gauhar Khan, as Joy Mitra paid tribute to 100 Years of Cinema in a line that had all the makings of a Bollywood potboiler.
Lightness of Being
The idea was to keep the treatment complex but cutting techniques simple and ensure linearity in the silhouette, but Arjun Saluja achieved much more than what he set out to do. His mesmerizing shapes, pleated Patialas, precise slashing to create an effect, zipper details on dresses, jackets along with interestingly placed flaps, made it a heady Fall.
Rajeshs Wooly Provenance
Much like the people of Punjab, the colourful threadwork executed in vibrant hues, Phulkari, made a sparkling entry, along with three showstoppers on the glitzy catwalk—Jacqueline Fernandes, Siddharth Malhotra and Esha Gupta. I tend to work with one craft at a time, it was Kashmiri, then Chikankari, Phulkari has a certain unmistakable spunk, that creates a peppy mood, almost instantly, says Manish. The front row was buzzing with veteran actress and Manish supporter Shabana Azmi, Pernia Qureshi and Malvika Poddar of Carma, but the dazzlers were the silk palazzos, net angarakhas, interesting gotta patti of sleeves and georgette shararas.
