Vijay Balhara @ WIFW AW 12

There are small things that are intentionally created to be part of the collection – ones that are so insignificant perhaps in the making, but definitely an add-on and quite central to the anthology now. That’s how you feel when you look at the small glitter cape that’s worn over a fluorescent neon green salwar kurta or the sequin jacket in gold that envelops the lilac maxi dress.

Rocky S @WIFW AW 12

India Unlimited was the tagline for the day at the Rocky S show this season. Fall, with its beautiful weddings, its unlimited extravagance and its undying love for gold, makes its way into Rocky S‘s collection.

Anand Bhushan @ WIFW AW 12

It’s amazing how Anand Bhushan surprises you with his wares every.single.time. From last season’s tribal inspiration to this season’s Junkyard love – every single piece of clothing that he produces has an after taste of creativity and power.

Rajdeep Ranawat @ WIFW AW 12

This season Rajdeep Ranawat presented an 80’s inspired collection that can be best described as a blend of psychdelic colours and bold prints in wearable styles. Kaftans, Jumpsuits, waistcoats, skirts, shift dresses and sarees lit up the ramp and Ranawat included a pop of added colour with bright coloured stockings to go with some of his dresses.

Pankaj & Nidhi @ WIFW AW 12

There is definitely something about the way Pankaj and Nidhi bring colour into fall this season. Brights are subtle (if there is ever such a thing!) and fabrics went from faux wool fur (a material that was made specially by the designers) to leather and wool jersey.

Ritu Pande @ WIFW AW 12

Feminine, dreamy and effortless is just how we would describe Ritu Pande’s collection. Blacks, charcoal greys and rust reds formed the limited yet classic colour palette that the designer stuck to and the fabric of choice was by and large satin. Kimono style dresses, one shoulder drapes and toga style dresses featured in her collection and eye catching coloured circular embellishments gave the clothes a rather asian appeal. The silhouettes were simple – ones that can also be worn to work, and the collection so featured cute coloured belts that added the much-needed drama to the collection.

Verb by Pallavi Singhee @ WIFW AW 12

‘My Vanquard’ by Singhee featured ethnic easy to wear garments- hand made fabrics were meshed with unconventional fabrics, textures and silhouettes. Singhee focused on flaming reds, pretty pinks, cool aqua, bright yellows and earthy browns for this particular collection and the garments had a strikingly experimental feel to them. The fabrics used comprised of shimmery nets, tulle, vintage brocades, silks, weaves and chiffons. Festive, colourful and vibrant shades gave the clothes a free spirited feel and Singhee’s effortless blending of multiple colours in one outfit itself left us awestruck.

Schön by Sakshee Pradhan @ WIFW AW 12

Sakshee’s collection was modern, romantic and effortlessly feminine. She stuck to a nude, champagne and off white palette with occasional bursts of dramatic gold sequins. Oversized headphones and gold rimmed glasses gave the clothes a retro-futuristic touch. Nargis Fakhri was breathtaking as the show stopper in a pair of gold sequin pants and flowy satin cape. The delicate lace maxi skirt, sequin hot pants and sequin shift dress were personal favourites from the collection and worth investing in if you’re looking for some statement worthy wardrobe additions.

Niharika @ WIFW W 12

Niharika gave us a circus of colours, funky prints and off beat embellishments all on black to bring out the out of the box character her collection boasted of.

Tahera Peeran @ WIFW AW 12

Tahera Peeran collection titled ‘New Slang’ brought together fashionable opposites. Fluidity was paired with structure, masculinity with femininity and austerity with experimentation.
