Sensually Yours by Reynu Taandon @ WIFW AW 12

‘Sensually Yours’ by Reynu Taandon marks the designers successful attempt to weave together garments with structural appeal in bursts of colour with intricate threadwork. Each garment was laden with elements of sensuality and this by itself was the signature appeal of Taandon’s collection.

Raakesh Agarwval @ WIFW AW 12

The art of the drape – if ever there was a concept of that sort, Raakesh Agarwval scores. This season, the art of drapery has taken to new heights with more interesting embellishments and easy silhouettes. Add a few metallic corsets and we have the right amount of drama any collection needs. The showcase began with a jazz rendition by the sultry Anushka Manchanda who crooned away in a beautiful pink glitter corset and fuchsia high slit drape by Raakesh. First came the structured fall must-haves – the leather paneled shifts and jackets worn with easy separates and big chunky bags.

Nachiket Barve @ WIFW AW 12

Textiles took an alternative route this season with Nachiket Brave’s Fall contribution titled “Caravan”. The brights were still his brightest offering and this time, they came with added textile and aesthetic influences across Asia, Arabia and the Sahara.

Virtues by Viral, Ashish & Vikrant @ WIFW AW 12

The treasured tie-dye art from Kutch, Gujarat popularly known as Gujarati Bandhani served as the main focus and inspiration for this collection. Black, indigo, henna and aubergine formed the central colour palette and the silhouettes used were structured with a raw finish.

Rahul Mishra @ WIFW AW 12

Chanderi has always been the weapon of choice for Rahul Mishra, and this time, he takes his collection a notch up with jersey and merino wool inclusions. The collection called Similar Opposites talks of this metamorphosis through handwoven fabrics.

Kotwara by Meera Ali @ WIFW AW 12

This season, Meera Ali gave us a solo show in collaboration with creative inputs from her young daughter Sama Ali. The collection was created keeping in mind the tastes and sensibilities of the modern day independent woman.

Rehane @ WIFW AW 12

Rehane’s collection channeled a military chic vibe and gave us feminine ensembles in three principle colours- khaki, dull good and fiery red. Key styles showcased included shift dresses, maxis and A line dresses with a retro twist. Rehane created an interesting fusion of feminine glamour and masculinity with her creations and dresses were accessorized with military hats and berets to emphasize on the gender neutral quality of this collection.

Manish Malhotra @ WIFW AW 12

Manish Malhotra’s show brought a rather eventful day 3 of WIFW 12’ to a grand end. The collection ‘Gulaala or Giltoor’ showcased by the designer was a tribute to a team of 65 kashmiri craftsmen who work under Malhotra.
