Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Khadi India presents a Khadi Showcase at Moscow Fashion Week 2025

New Delhi/Moscow, March 2025 –

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) will showcase khadi at Moscow Fashion Week 2025. This is in collaboration with the Khadi India – Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) established by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME. The event will present a womenswear collection designed to bring khadi to a global audience. Hand-spun and handwoven, khadi embodies India’s rich textile heritage while maintaining a minimal carbon footprint, making it an ideal choice for conscious consumers globally.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said that khadi is both a national symbol and a fashion statement. His message, “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion,” highlights its importance. FDCI has worked to promote khadi in India and abroad through various initiatives, including showcases in Ahmedabad and other cities.

Khadi India – CoEK has developed this collection to show how khadi can be used in modern clothing. The designs aim to connect India’s textile traditions with global fashion trends. The collection includes cotton, wool, and Eri silk fabrics from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Assam.

As part of FDCI’s partnership with Moscow Fashion Week, an Indian designer will showcase at Moscow Fashion Week, while a Russian designer will present their collection at an Indian fashion event. This year, at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, the designer ZA_ZA from Russia will showcase their collection on March 28 at 5 PM in Mumbai, India.

FDCI has collaborated with Russia on many fashion initiatives. Past projects include participation in the BRICS+ Fashion Summit and designer exchanges. FDCI has also worked on international textile projects, including the 2019 Khadi-Thagzo event in Bhutan, which brought together Indian and Bhutanese designers. Through such efforts, khadi is gaining global recognition.

With this collection, FDCI and Khadi India continue their efforts to promote khadi as a fabric for the future. The goal is to highlight handwoven textiles and their relevance in today’s fashion industry.

Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) Presents Samant Chauhan’s Handloom Showcase at Moscow Fashion Week 2025

New Delhi/Moscow, March 2025 –

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) will present a handloom showcase at Moscow Fashion Week 2025, featuring designer Samant Chauhan. Known for his work with Bhagalpur silk and cotton, his collection ‘White Nights’ celebrates India’s weaving traditions and the artisans behind them.

Inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s White Nights, this collection is an ode to women who dream. It reflects resilience, memory, and quiet rebellion—grandmothers who embroidered their hopes into fabric, girls who defied norms with stories hidden in their pockets.

Handwoven textures in white symbolize both purity and defiance, capturing the contrast of light and darkness, love and melancholy. Rooted in nostalgia and strength, the collection is a tribute to those who create, endure, and let their dreams shine through even the longest nights.

FDCI has consistently worked to promote Indian textiles on a global platform, with previous engagements in Russia, including showcases at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit. This handloom showcase at Moscow Fashion Week is part of its ongoing efforts to bring India’s design and handloom textiles and craft heritage to the world.
