
Navyug Khadi – A Contemporary Celebration of India’s Handcrafted Legacy
The Center of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK), set up by the Ministry of MSME in association with NIFT, presented the show curated by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), presented a captivating Khadi fashion showcase this evening as part of Navyug Khadi with the aim to building a New Narrative. The event was graced by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), as the Chief Guest. Also present were, Ms. Roop Rashi , CEO, CoEK, Smt. Tanu Kashyap, Director General, NIFT and Sunil Sethi, Chairman FDCI.
Hosted at the beautifully decorated Amphitheater, National Crafts Museum & Hastakala Academy, Pragati Maidan, the showcase served as a vibrant celebration of India’s heritage textile, presented through an immersive format that combined fashion, dance performances, and live singing.
Curated by FDCI, the show featured an assortment of contemporary Khadi ensembles like saris, apparel silhouettes, and upcycled pieces, designed by CoEK and crafted by Khadi Institutions across the country. The presentation highlighted Khadi’s versatility, sustainability, and regional diversity in a modern, retail-ready format, reflecting the essence of a new-age Khadi narrative.
The evening brought forward the shared vision of CoEK, NIFT, and FDCI, to elevate Khadi as an aspirational textile for today’s generation, while honouring the craftsmanship of rural artisans who keep this legacy alive.
The fashion showcase is a key highlight of the ongoing Navyug Khadi exhibition, which continues at the National Crafts Museum till 3rd December 2025.
