WALKING TALL, WALKING FOR HOPE, WALKING FOR INCLUSION
New Delhi, August 13, 2024 – In a heartwarming display of inclusion and integration, Tamana, the esteemed NGO dedicated to advocating for individuals with disabilities, in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Hyatt Regency Delhi, successfully hosted its annual fashion show. For over 15 years, under the leadership of its founder President, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Shayama Chona, Tamana has championed the cause of ‘Inclusion and Integration’ of the differently-abled through this landmark event.
The show witnessed 60 individuals with multiple disabilities and those on the autism spectrum walking hand in hand with students and representatives from top schools across India, along with dignitaries from various fields and renowned designers, as symbols of Inclusion. Accompanied by the melodious tunes of Diwakar Sharma, famed for his participation in SaReGaMa Little Champs, the event was a testament to the power of diversity and unity. Esteemed FDCI designers such as Anju Modi, Payal Pratap Singh, Payal Jain, and Namrata Joshipura showcased their collections in support of this noble cause.
The Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India, Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, extended his support for this initiative by gracing the occasion as the chief guest, adding to the event’s significance.
A key highlight of the event was the Tamana Social Impact Awards 2024, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions towards the inclusion of differently-abled individuals in society, each in their own unique way.

ABOUT TAMANA
Tamana is a NGO established in 1984 by the mother of the girl child, Tamana, who was born with Cerebral Palsy. Itsfirst centre Tamana Special Education Centre was inaugurated by the late LadyDiana, Princess of Wales in 1992. It was set up toprovide rehabilitative services to differentlyabled children between the age group 6- 18Yrs. Now Tamana has two more centres – the Tamana SkillDevelopment , NIOS Centre and Hostel which is a Vocational Centre cateringto adults, and the ‘The Autism Centre for those on the spectrum. TheAutism Centre was inaugurated in 2003 by the former President ofIndia, late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
