Fashion Programme at JIMS has a well integrated multi-disciplinary curriculum includes fashion Illustration, Consumer Trends and Behaviors, Fashion Design Software, Key Business Skills and Design presentation skills which are developed through sketching, model drawing. Basic design elements enhance visual presentation skills, which helps in creating the final portfolio effectively.
Guest lecturers augment the teaching modules by offering the latest updates and current events in respective fields. Leading Fashion Designers address the students on topics like Design Essentials, Designing through Inspiration, Presentation Techniques, Styling, Visual Merchandising and Business communication. They function as a valuable interface between the industry and the student & the information brought into light is vital for their comprehensive study.
Students are put through an intensive training; the curriculum covers the development of the garment from the source of inspiration to the finished product involving all the technical aspects. Students are provided with an opportunity to showcase their collection at JIMS Annual Fashion Show “Styles & Trends” in front of renowned designers from the fashion industry.
External study visits to directional exhibitions, trade fairs, garment export houses, dyeing & printing units, Knitting & weaving units, museums and craft guilds are organized through the duration of the course to keep students in touch with the latest trends and developments.
The focus is on increasing commercial knowledge and awareness through live industry design challenges. This course has exceptional industry connections and during the final semester, students are encouraged to develop their portfolio in preparation for their future in the industry.
