Menswear designer, Kunal Rawal, started his career in 2006 after graduating from London College of Fashion and was one of the youngest designers in India to take on individual feature film projects. With more than 20 films, 300 ad films over a decade of experience by his side, Kunal is not only a renowned costume designer but is also a sought-after evening wear designer for the modern Indian groom as well as the most illustrious in society, from Hindi film actors to high profile industrialists.
Kunals work in Bollywood includes popular projects like Aisha (2011), Desi Boyz (2011), Teri Meri Kahaani (2012), Shootout at Wadala (2013), Besharam (2013), R Rajkumar (2013), season 2 of 24 (2013), Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara (2013), Main Tera Hero (2014), Disneys Jagga Jasoos (2017), Mubarakan (2017) and many more.
Whilst Kunal started designing menswear apparel from the age of 19, he launched his namesake label, Kunal Rawal, following consistent success as a costume designer and stylist in the Hindi film industry. The Kunal Rawal signature look is one in which traditional Indian clothing meets contemporary designs with an edgy twist. His design aesthetic has undertones of military, grunge and industrial influence. Kunal Rawal Label has been the go-to contemporary Indian designer for most of the men in Hindi film fraternity, including A-listers like Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and many more.
In the past, Kunal has designed a range of apparel and accessories for British automobile company, Ginetta. He has designed a range of on field, off field apparel and merchandise for IPL teams like Rajasthan Royals (2008) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (2012). The designer has worked with multiple lifestyle brands like Koovs for capsule collection of western pieces and automobile brands like Lamborghini and Nissan on curated fashion presentations and CSR initiatives.
