Pashma by Shilu Kumar

Shilu Kumar was born to Indian parents in Indonesia in 1957 and completed her early education in Jakarta itself. She then came to Mumbai at the age of 15 to complete her higher studies in Montessori education and teaching handicapped children. After marriage, she was a committed mother and home-maker for 15 years. Her abiding interest in fashion and unique sensibilities was first noticed by her friends and family who began consulting her over their ensembles for special occasions. Her first formal tryst with fashion began when she decided to join the family business that was involved in exporting ready-to-wear garments under private label arrangements. She wanted to provide woman with a collection which was aesthetic, wearable and made her feel special and beautiful, that’s why she launched “Pashma” around 20 years ago. Pashma was conceived as a brand for the women, by the women and of the women. Using the finest and noblest of fibers, drawing inspirations from the core aesthetic traditions of the East and the West, bringing together the finest crafts and skills, collections were created that complemented woman of all shapes and orientations. The collections were astoundingly luxurious, fashionable yet wearable each with a unique equilibrium of artistic beauty and quality that became her handwriting. Her highly evolved sense of aesthetics, uncompromising drive, and superior business acumen continue to be the driving force behind Pashma’s success.
