Shriya studied at the Roedean School in London and Oakridge International
School, Hyderabad. Her passion and main subject in IB, was fine art. With her natural flair for the creative arts, Shriya moved to New York City in 2008, to pursue BFA Integrated Design at the Parsons School of Design.
Ironically, thanks to a mix-up of academic schedules in that year, Shriya landed up in a fashion design class, where students were asked to create a multipurpose garment. This piqued her interest and led her to pursuing fashion design as her career option. Upon graduation, Shriya assisted couture stalwarts such as Tarun Tahiliani and Naeem Khan, before finally launching her eponymous label in 2015.
The label is unpretentious in its proclamation of femininity. The brand can be best defined as having an understated aesthetic with attention to detail. Literal explorations of the garden can be seen in surface embroideries and embellishments, often playing in layers of wistful tones or spirited contrasts. Teased and textured fabrics extend this theme.
It seeks to define urban luxury in a fresh and new manner. The signature colour palette veers between pastels, reds, black and blues. Embroideries include multi-hued and chenille florals, vignette cutwork, three dimensional accents in embellishment. Textural exploration in draping and fabric manipulation is an ongoing process and present in every collection.
