TANTUVI by Smriti Morarka has been working in the field of reviving ancient weaving traditions from the region of Benaras for over two decades. Our heritage of weaving is both rich and unique. It is an art form perfected by generations over thousands of years. Benaras, in particular, is home to countless weaving traditions. Each distinct and different from each other, and each spectacular in their own way.
We at TANTUVI have identified Tanchoi, Meenakari, Brocading and Ganga-Jamuni weaving as the traditions that we wish to explore in the most luxurious silk and satin. To provide a platform to keep our hand loom weaving traditions alive and to encourage our weavers to constantly innovate is the main endeavor at TANTUVI.
The modern global citizens have needs and usages fairly different from what the demands of the patrons of the past were.
We are conscious about keeping this in mind. Whereas our skill of weaving and motifs used continue to be age old, their colors and formatting of design will be such that the new generation can relate to it and be attracted towards it.
