Wifw Ss 13 – Project For North East Designers

New Delhi, October 1, 2012: In a landmark move, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has reached out through the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). There will be a ramp show and stalls to showcase design from North East.

The talented designer, Atsu, from the North-East, the picturesque Nagaland, to showcase an eclectic line that captures the flavour of the region, its vast wealth of textiles and intricate designs, but with a modern twist. He has recently been bestowed with the Governor’s Award by the Nagaland Government for his contribution to the world of fashion and it’s a great honour for him to be presenting his collection, which will reflect the essence of not only Nagaland, but also Manipur, Assam and Mizoram.

Besides the show, there will be stalls set up, which will showcase crafts from various designers from the North-East including, Manipur, Shillong, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, curated by Mala Baruah.

The show will be held at the much-awaited Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), Pragati Maidan, on Saturday, October 6, at 4.30 pm.

The FDCI President, Sunil Sethi said, “We are grateful to Smt. Kiran Dhingra, Secretary Textiles, for her patronage to the North East Project. This is a good example where the Ministry of Textiles and FDCI have teamed up to promote textiles from a particular region.”
