“Homecoming” is an attempt at expressing the longing for the return of a friend / a loved one / a soldier. While some come back with mental and physical bruises, some with amputation and some just don’t come back. The collection takes cues from the battlefield emotions and translates the same into visually striking prints and embroideries. From molten take on the camouflage to bleeding camo colors in checks, bruised stitches to up-cycled textiles and woodblock prints denoting the nostalgic take on home to patches of hand-knits and crochet sealing the nostalgia, the interpretations play high on psychology of a soldier.
The textiles used are all natural and range from heavy linens, blends of hemp, cotton twill, handloom denim and silk blends. Silhouettes range from vintage military cropped jackets to simplified versions of the M65 and HBT22 jackets, workwear shirts teamed with utilitarian bottoms.
The music and the lyrics for the song produced for the collection strives to explore a one-way conversation between the two individuals standing across the line.
“Its been a while so just come home
Take the backroads, the ones that we know
Bring all your memories from the shore
And I’ll share mine, when I was alone.”
