Established in 2004, designer label Hemant&Nandita, has quickly carved a niche for its extremely luxurious yet wearable aesthetic that combines the old with the new. The designers treat nostalgic features with fashion-forward prints, interesting colour play, exquisite embroideries, and state-of-the-art surface developments. The resulting ensembles are all about making a nonchalant (but decidedly memorable) sartorial statement from dusk-to-dawn.
The duo behind this eponymous label seeks inspiration from traditional art forms, cultures and elements while infusing their designs with a decidedly contemporary edge. A distinctly Indian inspiration is an all-encompassing element of all their designs the designers are drawn towards the colours and crafts of the country, which they reinterpret keeping the modern-day millennial in mind. Their creations can be best described as a combination of versatile wearability with a hint of bohemian insouciance.
The label caters to markets in US, Europe and Middle East.
The SS17 collection to be showcased at AIFW is all about the big flowers of 70s, lovely traditional Ikat weaves and the sequined charisma of the early 90s- this collection is designed around the best nostalgic parts of Hemant & Nanditas journey which has been transformed in exclusively developed prints and embroideries.
