Khanijo

The circus arrived uninvited. The circus arrives without a warning. It is simply there when yesterday it wasn’t here.

No announcements were made, no paper notices on downtown posts and billboards. No mention in the local newspapers. The circus came uninvited, the stage was big and huge. The circus came with the lights off, and tents were dark, no gold and crimsons to be found. Just silence.

Two years back, with an entire pandemic in its onset, we did not even realize when and how we became a part of this circus, or may be we were always a part of It even a century ago, and found ourselves in it, again. We yearned to move, to perform, more than ever, when we were locked inside. The image is relatable, isn’t it ?

We are living performers of this nature-built circle-esque circus. We make it dark, and we light it up. We play and hop and shuffle between emotions on the center stage of life. We fall and get up and juggle past hurdles balancing possibilities and impossibilities, through life and death – the yin and yang.

The collection is a dedication, to the spirit of the never ending show. A dedication to our craft, where we have brought together crafts hailing from the nooks and corners of our country. A mish mash of handlooms, indigenous embroideries, artisanal textiles into handcrafted pieces celebrating Indian craftsmanship, put together in cuts and styles that talk in a globally relatable language. Street wear, that literally comes from Indian street with a very artful flavour to it. An ode to a saying that goes like – the show must go on.

A circus straight from Khanijo’s soul,
