Malini Ramani was born in New York and moved to India when she was eleven. From an early age, she began to experiment and push boundaries creating a unique style that has come to define her a magical blend of East and West.n nAt the age of 21, she opened one of Indias first underground café/nightclubs in the then undiscovered Hauz Khas Village named The Small Café. From there she went on to break new ground in the emerging new India, when she acted in the first English night time soap opera A Mouthful of Sky where she played a vixen. Later her adventurous spirit led her to the beaches of Goa, where she found her true heartbeat and set up home and shop. She opened her first clothing store in Candolim that now, ten years later is a landmark in Goa. She also opened a 17,000 square foot lounge bar in the heart of Candolim named Congo that was listed as one of the top hot-spots in Asia by Conde Naste Travellers hot 100 list.n nIn 2012, she opened Dreamscape a one of a kind lifestyle store in Goa, for which she travels the world searching for exciting products, artefacts and unique objects for the home and garden. Last year Malini teamed up with the famous Bata shoe band for which she holds the distinction of being the only individual designer that Bata has ever collaborated with worldwide to design a range of festive footwear.n nHowever, her longest running passion has been for clothing. Growing up with a fashion designer mother inspired her to breathe creativity into everything she did. For the past 12 years she has designed womens wear that has revolutionised the way modern urban Indian women dress. Her original look of rock star meets Indian princess found its way into many Indian girls wardrobes and built a following of loyal fans from around the world.n nHer most popular styles, range from jumpsuits, kaftans, wrap dresses and easy to wear travel and resort pieces that include Indian craftsmanship of bandini, block prints, mirror work, embroidery and tie dye.
