Namrata’s vision is that of a global aesthetic. Her clothing easily translates across geographies and other artificial constructs such as age, race and point of view. The Joshipura line fuses contemporary silhouettes with modern interpretations of artisanal embellishments. An important signature element is her innovative use of color – strong expressions of color contrasted with beautiful embellishments.

Namrata strives to make clothing that is worn by complex, involved, and dynamic women. After having lived in New York for 8 years, she moved back to New Delhi 8 years ago. Influenced by her time in New York her aesthetic has been inspired by the city’s energy and contemporary spirit.

In 2013 Elle Magazine named Namrata as the ‘Designer of the Year’ for their style awards. In March, 2014, Namrata was asked to be the finale show for India Fashion Week where Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper. She is the only designer to have ever done two finales in the space of 12 months – this is testament to the fact her shows are exciting and always full of energy.

The Namrata Joshipura label has become the go-to label for Bollywood starlets looking to make a red carpet impact from: Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar and are a few of the stars that have worn ‘Namrata Joshipura’ recently.

Her clothes are retailed in India at her five stores: DLF Emporio (Delhi), The Crescent (Delhi), D7 (Mumbai), The Collonnade (Bangalore) and 144 Remount Road (Kolkata). The clothes are also sold at fine shops around the world.

Namrata, a NIFT graduate, launched her clothing line in India in 1996 under the “Namrata Joshipura” label.

Namrata’s other passions in life are running marathons and traversing mountain peaks.

The Autumn Winter 2016 collection “Concrete Garden”draws its inspiration from the creativity and vibrancy of New York City, a city that Namrata once called home.

The city is a mash-up of amazing street style juxtaposed with the most innovative new ideas in fashion, art and technology. Different cultures and attitudes collide to make an incredible international city – at the end of the day, it is about inclusivity, new life, hope, and above all, love.
