The art of the drape – if ever there was a concept of that sort, Raakesh Agarwval scores. This season, the art of drapery has taken to new heights with more interesting embellishments and easy silhouettes. Add a few metallic corsets and we have the right amount of drama any collection needs. The showcase began with a jazz rendition by the sultry Anushka Manchanda who crooned away in a beautiful pink glitter corset and fuchsia high slit drape by Raakesh. First came the structured fall must-haves – the leather paneled shifts and jackets worn with easy separates and big chunky bags.

We also loved the multi-coloured suede and leather paneled graphic jacket that was worn with an obi belt – an idea that was more power and less severity. There were power shoulders and short shifts that can be easily incorporated into your fall winter wardrobe.

The showcase also featured a range of indo-chic wear – gold threadwork on global silhouettes – notable among them a beautiful royal blue jacket that was worn on leather pants paired with a suede clutch. And then the show weaned towards a more fluid line with interesting embellishments and wearable ideas.

The drapes that came in bright colours like blues, pinks, purples and yellows were an ode to the modern Indian woman and her curves. The back embellishments, almost gave the collection a middle-eastern feel with jewellery and filigree work.

The two-toned drapes paired with the ever-haunting arm cuffs were a picture of delight. The short studded gold metallic skirt and the modern armour-like metal corset added to the charm.
