Tahera Peeran collection titled ‘New Slang’ brought together fashionable opposites. Fluidity was paired with structure, masculinity with femininity and austerity with experimentation.

Corals, pinks, pistachio greens, navys and champagne were the colours seen and what struck us the most about Peeran’s collection was how the garments were modern yet classic – a combination that’s difficult to create. Bubble hems, tulip style dresses, boat neck necklines and palazzo pants featured in the show to add an element of fun and edginess to her creations. There was the clear influence of squiggle art in her garments and Peeran played with Batik and Shibori prints to give her clothes a contemporary finish.
