The master of drapes has worked his magic and left us mesmerized with his gorgeous creations this season too. Plums, navys, blacks, maroons and burnt oranges cascaded down the ramp in a variety of figure flattering silhouettes to leave fashion lovers awestruck.
Tahilian stuck to autumn friendly-colours and experimented with elements of androgyny to add an interesting twist to his creations. Detailing to the waist was a prominent feature of this show and the kamarbandh seemed to be the accessory of choice. It is safe to say that the outfits had an indo-western appeal to them and were classic cuts that would flatter just about any woman’s body. The draped saris were elegant, feminine, classic yet understated.
Tahiliani spiced up some of his creations by occasionally throwing in a unpredictable power shoulder shrug or waistcoat to beautifully complement what could have been a perfectly feminine ensemble. Velvet, chiffon, georgette and jersey were the fabrics that the designer played with this season and the accessories that went with the collection are simply mind-blowing. Scarves were used as belts, statement necklaces were paired with waistcoats and shrugs and most of all, we really loved the zardozi kamar-bandhs.
The fringe cuffs and embroidered polti bags also added to the charm. High slits were part of almost every ensemble and chain embellishments were part of every drape – true to his style, Tarun gave us just what we expected- exquisite embroideries and beautiful drapery, perfect for those winter cocktail parties.
