Bengaluru-born Meenakshi Rathore started modelling two years ago, though the B.Com (Hons) graduate, started her career as an audit associate with KPMG, and in between balance sheets she did the catwalk. One year ago, I took up modelling full-time. Though it all began from number crunching to the spotlight with a college fashion show I won. Though, no one thought I would ever win as I was totally into academics and never though about clothes or make-up. My parents are conservative, so convincing them was a task, but when they see me now, they are happy with the progress I have made, she adds.
Shifting base to Mumbai, Rathores biggest challenge was yet to come. And that was losing weight and getting into shape, so from 65 kilos, the fitness addict came down to 54 kilos and the battle is still on. I am not a skinny girl, so for me it is an uphill task, every day I work out and I was determined to not go for short cuts and try getting fit, the healthy way, she smiles. Counting her willpower as her biggest strength, hard work with determination has got this 23-year-old five feet 10 inches tall, model this far.
Inspired by Victorias Secret model Candice Swanepoel, Rathore knows that modelling has a short survival span, so she has enrolled for a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) degree, being a finance major. Information-technology interests me and I know I will end up working in an audit firm, ten years from now. But currently I want to live in the moment and savour my time in the spotlight, she concludes.
