The masters of drape – Shantanu & Nikhil once again team up to give us a spectacular show with lace, velvet, sequin and metallic influences. The drape once again takes precedence over the collection – and this time, there are newer additions, like the heavily sequined wraps, velvet jackets and dramatic boleros. The show drew inspiration from Indian vintage colours like mustard, grey, orange and green and the silhouette was fluid and flattered the Indian curves. Perfect for cocktail parties and red carpet evenings, the collection showcased shrugs and gilets worn over long draped dresses that reminded us of the 60s glamour – the red carpet Hollywood starlet look that was both glamorous and edgy.

The drape saree in pewter with the sequin bodice is our personal favourite as it quietly replaces the heavily embroidered sari as the new cocktail ensemble. Effortless and easy glam all rolled into one, the drape is perhaps Shantanu and Nikhil’s biggest bet this season as they team it well with gold cutwork and metallic antique silver bodices.

The excessive use of one shoulder gowns over structured outerwear gives fall-winter that much-needed oomph. Lace white dresses reminiscent of bridal wear took the runway too and this time, they played with brightly-coloured sashes and bold fur jackets. The gold detailing on the one-shouldered dresses makes them the number one must have cocktail dress for fall, all thanks to Shantanu & Nikhil.
