Meher Sandhu counts Tyra Banks as her inspiration as she hopes to trek the fashion landscape with confidence her biggest strength.

Growing up in Delhi, raised by a single mom, Meher Sandhu changed many schools, from Pathways, Woodstock (Mussoorie) to British School, where her mom worked as a health officer. Always passionate about ramp walk, this five feet 11 inches tall greenhorn, did join a marketing firm for a bit, but left it to pursue full-time modelling. Everyones eyes are on you, when you are on the ramp, and that is what I find most charming about this profession. And I have grown up watching Tyra Banks and her TV show. Not only is she a coloured model who made it big, but she is also intelligent and has diversified into several things, singing as well as acting. She is multi-faceted, something every model should be, she adds.
Never thought of keeping a Plan B, even though she has a business degree under her belt, Meher wants to make Plan A work. To be a model you have to be fit, in good shape. Im into fitness and look up to a few fitness models too because as a model I feel like the biggest thing you owe yourself is taking care of your body. That’s why I love working out in my free time, she adds.
A fitness model who really inspires her is Bella Falconi. If you were to ask me what I believe is my strength Id say confidence because having seen my mom, a single parent work hard to give me the best education. It has taught me to be independent, like my mother. So whatever I do, I give my heart and soul to it, she adds.
Besides gymming, Meher is also into water sports and recently went jet skiing in Bali as well as white water river rafting in Rishikesh. Handling the rapids and keeping calm is a lesson in itself. It teaches you how to deal with turbulence and I have discovered the only way to navigate through rough times is by keeping a cool head, she admits.
A big fan of Ritu Kumar and Manish Malhotra in India, she has admired Tom Ford, Coco Chanel and Ralph Lauren, internationally for their ingenious thinking. The fact that they have withstood the test of time is proof enough that they are fabulous, she concludes.
