Aparna Dube, a psychology graduate may love modelling, but her heart beats for music
By Asmita Aggarwal
She is 21-years-old, stands five feet eight inches tall and hopes to be a wordsmith one day! Lucknow-born Aparna Dube, grew up all over the country, with her father being in the Air Force, so fitness was a part of her psyche along with discipline.
The self-confessed tomboy is a first-timer at the AIFW SS 16 and admits that her foray into modelling was inspired by the sylph-like Lisa Haydon. I had a girl crush on her, she is athletic, fit, dusky, and super sweet, everything I ever wanted to be and more, smiles Aparna.
Growing up in Bengaluru, and being the tallest in the family, with a perfect jawline and square face, she was often told she could make a great model, but she wasnt very convinced. She finally started modelling three years back, and is currently studying psychology from IGNOU, Aparna, never aspired to get into either Bollywood or Ms India, she was clear that runways were her calling. Supported by her elder sister, a Ph.D student, she knew that she had no Godfather, so everything was self-taught. I maintain a diary; I write poems and songs, music is something that greatly interests me. I listen to a lot of pop; from Taylor Swift to Selena Gomez, and as modelling has a shelf-life, music will be my final destination, she smiles.
Writing songs and composing music has been a passion for Aparna, who keeps fit with a three day in a week 45-minutes jog, and weight training. I am naturally skinny, so I dont need to put in a lot of effort. But being a model looks simple, but in reality it is quite the opposite. You need to keep a straight head, keep up the momentum, without losing your focus on your goal, she concludes.
