If you ask Nainital-born, Beneras, Lucknow and Nasik educated, Rachit Kumar Singh where he sees himself 10 years down the line, he will tell you without blinking, a superstar. The MBA from Symbiosis, is also a trained fitness instructor and yoga teacher, who left the luring arch lights of the runway to work with Yash Raj Films as a casting director where he worked and rehearsed with some of the most fabulous stars of 70 MM. I always wanted to be a model; you know irrespective of what people say, modelling may have a shelf-life, but in the years that you have, you have the power to create magic, he smiles.
Training under Surender Sharma of the National School of Drama, Rachit has grown to admire the work of method actor Irfaan Khan who his guru (Sharma) says has worked on his diction and voice throw to get to where he has reached today. Theatre for me has been a journey of self-realisation, where you get exposed to your weak points and are fully aware of your weak spots, he adds.
Now turning back to modelling after a hiatus, Rachit believes that it takes more than just good looks to make it big on the catwalk and what can really crack the deal is personality and attitude. Thats what differentiates you from the rest, he adds.
Counting his mom and his second mom (his sister) as his most avid supporters, Rachit loves to read a lot. I am reading Tughlaq right now and I like Hindi literature as it exposes you to your own culture and heritage. I am a big fan if Munshi Premchand, and my all time fave book is Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda by Dharamvir Bharti, he concludes.
